The challenge: Develop an independent, for-profit, feline-only access-to-care model that connects affordability, quality, operational discipline, and financial sustainability.
Rick’s role: Concept development, business planning, site selection, facility design and construction, equipment, staffing, marketing, launch, and ongoing operations.
Transferable lesson: Mission and business performance can reinforce one another when the service model, workflow, capacity, and client experience are designed together.
First Coast No More Homeless Pets
The challenge: Expand access to veterinary care and build scalable programs and facilities serving animals, families, and community partners.
Rick’s role: Founder and organizational leader, with responsibility spanning veterinary hospitals, high-volume spay/neuter, access-to-care programs, partnerships, facilities, teams, and implementation.
Transferable lesson: Growth requires more than a compelling mission—it requires operating systems, financial planning, capacity management, and disciplined execution.
Community lifesaving programs
The challenge: Improve community outcomes through coordinated strategies that align shelters, clinics, municipalities, funders, and local organizations.
Rick’s role: Development and implementation of community cat, Return to Field, targeted spay/neuter, coalition, and large-scale adoption strategies, including work connected to nationally shared models.
Transferable lesson: Durable progress depends on shared goals, practical implementation, sufficient veterinary capacity, and clear measures of success.
